Creating a Site in Dream Weaver

1. To create a new web page. Click on File, NEW. The following window will appear.

2. Select the Category on the Left Pane and the type of Page you are trying to create on the right Pane.

3. Click on CREATE once you have completed your selection. This will bring you to the next dialogue box.

 4. In order to define a site, click Define a Site under the Files taskbar on the right hand side. You will be taken to the Site Definition area.

This is very important. This form will have the information for your local root folder in Citrix.

5.Select the folder icon in order to choose the location of your local root folder in CITRIX.

This will open a selection box where you can select the folder option of your choice.



6. The F: is your local folder on the Citrix environment which is the preferred location for all saved files.

7. When saving files on your local C:(hard drive) on your personal pc, select C$ on Client (V:)

Please note when you save to your local C: on your personal pc, you will not be able to make changes to your files unless you have the Macromedia DreamWeaver application installed on your home pc. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED!

8.When saving on the Citrix home drive, you can create a folder to save your website files. Click the Create New Folder icon amd a new folder is placed in your home directory. This folder can be re-named to whatever you like and you can place the files in this directory. In this example, we will replace the local root folder with the new folder that was just created.

Note once you select the new folder, it is placed in the Local Root folder place holder.

9. Once you have verified your local Root folder is correct in the CATEGORY Box you will need to select the REMOTE INFO category.

10.In the Access drop box, select FTP as shown above. You will now fill in the needed information to access the Remote Server.

Connecting to the Webserver

11. Fill out the form using the follwing information:

a) FTP Host = weblab.devry.edu
b) Host Directory = COURSEFOLDERNAME\STUDENTFirstInitialLastName (no spaces)
Each course has a unique name associated it and this information should be retrieved from your instructor.
c) Login =ACAD/YourDSINumber
d) Password = Your Date of Birth (YYYYMM format)
Note: Instructors will use their date of hire in YYYYMM format.
e) Uncheck the Enable File Check In/Out and Check Out Files when Opening options .
f) Select/Check Automatically upload files to server on save option.

13.Select TEST

14. When you receive a message confirming that you connected successfully to the Webserver, click OK. You will be redirected back to the Site Definition page.



15. At this time please select OK. A Status dialogue box will appear and when connecting to the server like shown above (i.e. Status - Waiting for sever).

16. You will now be able to create a web page.

Note: When you are ready to save you must remember to save all. Click FILE SAVE ALL

And you are now DONE!!!
